Miguel Gallardo is Catalan illustrator, writer of graphic novels, designer and publicist. Probably his most popular work is “Makoki”, the underground character from the 80’s. He studied at L’Escola Massana in Barcelona, with a strong conviction to become an illustrator and with referents as Breccia, Mordillo and Pratt. When the Franco dictatorship was arriving to its end, he created Makoki and with the collaboration of Juan Mediavilla he created “El Vibora” humor magazine. In the 90’s, he started to focus more in illustration, publishing in newspaper as “La Vanguardia”, “Herald Tribune” or “The New York Times” and also working in autobiographic graphic novels as “Un largo Silencio” or “María y yo”, that gained El Premio Nacional de Cómic in 2008. In 2013 he got the “Premio Graffic” and later on he was fired from “La Vanguardia” together with other work colleagues. The year after, El Salón del Cómic” of Barcelona gave him El Gran Premio to his professional career.
